"Yes, these will cut your wicks if you do not gently pull them and all edges on these pins are very sharp. We mark them so we know exactly where the middle is. The other type of wicks bars do not fit the jars we use - so these were the only option. They do work really well, though with thicker wicks we had to widen the gaps slightly to be able to use them. But other than this and having all edges be very sharp, we have no complaints. They take some time to learn to work with easily and quickly."

"I like the bow tie wicks, but the wick bar suit my needs best. I think the wick bar is steadier and you can wrap the wick around the bar for a secure hold. Remember, it's just a matter of personal preference. Both the bow tie and bar do what they were made for, which is to hold the wick into a centered-position."
