Tips for Using Your Skull Mold

This skull mold requires a small modification to fit a wick. Using a metal skewer, carefully poke a hole at the bottom of the mold. To prepare, thread a wick through the large opening, down to the hole you created. Seal the hole with about ½ inch of wick poking through, remembering that the mold’s base is the top of your candle. Next, fill the mold with wax and center the wick with a wick bar. Once the wax has set, remove your candle and trim the wick ends to ¼ inch. This versatile silicone skull mold also works as a skull soap mold, ideal for soap projects with striking, detailed designs.

This mold does not include a pre-made wick hole, so use a metal skewer to create one before threading your wick through the large opening. Seal the hole, leaving about 0.5” of wick exposed at the bottom of the mold—remember, this will become the top of your finished candle. Because of the mold’s intricate shape, apply a mold release spray to make demolding easier and preserve fine details. Pour in your melted wax, keeping the wick centered with a wick bar. Once the wax has fully set, carefully remove the candle from the mold and trim both ends of the wick to about 0.25”.
