"This wicks are great, can use these for most of my candles. I'm new to Candle Making and I live in Birmingham, Alabama and TFC isn't too far from me for shipping and I get a lot of my supplies from y'all. 9oz straight sided Amber jars dyes, and FO love TFC."

Q&A

Hello. Would I need to double-wick a gel wax candle that is 3.5-4 inches in diameter size with a zinc core 51-32-18?
Hi Nakita! Although we do not carry gel wax and aren't able to advise specifically on that product, you are correct that only zinc core wicks should be used. We recommend double-wicking with diameters of 4" + larger. In terms of wick size, treat it as though you are wicking a 2" candle (diameter halved). Our Resource Center has more information on double-wicking, or you can email info@theflamingcandle.com for further assistance.
Hello, Can you use dried real fruit inside your gel candle? I am making agel lemon candle and wanted to put fresh dried lemon around the jar with lemon F/O. I am double-wicking because the jar diameter is 3.0 at the top but very wide in the middle. about a 4 I believe. Should I double wick or triple wick and can I add the lemons to the wall of the vessel? Respectfully, Nakita
Hi Nakita, we can't advise on another company's gel wax, and suggest referring to the wax information or where it was purchased. Gel wax can be very tricky to work with, and the compounds in lemons may affect your candle burn. We only recommend double-wicking diameters of 4" and larger, so try testing different sizes of a single wick for safety and results.
I used to use zinc wicks in all my paraffin candles for 15 years. I've switched to a para soy iga 6006 my jar is 3 1/2 inch opening 3 x 3 jar sauce. What size zinc wick should I get I'm considering the 32
Hi Charlotte! We recommend testing the following three sizes of zinc wicks: 44-43-18z 51-32-18z 60-44-18z If these sizes aren't quite right, consider testing the Premier 700 series -- it works very well with this wax. Please refer to our website's Wick Guide to determine a suitable size range for further testing.
Is there a wick guide for this series? What do the different numbers mean??
Hi Dawn! You can find out Wick Guide in the Resource Center section of our website. Resource Center: https://www.theflamingcandle.com/resource-center/ Wick Guide: https://www.theflamingcandle.com/wick-guide/ The meaning of the wick numbers can be found under the section Candle Wicks 101 in an article titled "What Do Candle Wick Numbers Mean?" https://www.theflamingcandle.com/what-do-candle-wick-numbers-mean/ The first number tells you the wick size. The size of the wick is determined by how many spools of yarn were used to make the wick. The higher the number, the larger the wick. As a general rule, the larger wick sizes will have a bigger melt pool and usually have higher wax consumption. The second number indicates the speed at which the wick was sent through the braiding machine. The higher the number, the faster the speed and the tighter the braid. Wicks with a tighter braid have less fuel (wax) consumption. The third number is a code for the temperature of the wax as the wick is fed through the gears of the braiding machine. This temperature varies according to the two previous numbers.
Hello, What is the next wick size up from 51-32-18 Zinc Core 6‚" Pre-Tabbed Wick. Do you just start testing the LX series? The wax I use is paraffin IGI 4636. Respectfully, Donna Robinson
Hi Donna! The next size up from the 51-32-18 is the 60-44-18. Please let us know if you have any other questions, we are happy to help!
